“We’re incredibly excited about the move to Phoenix NAP,” said localnode’s Managing Director, Mark Keller. “We can now deliver extraordinary connectivity to our clients through Phoenix NAP’s partnerships with more than fifteen carriers. I have no doubt that localnode clients are going to notice considerable improvements in performance as a result of the move.” Phoenix NAP features a 3,000 square foot meet-me room dedicated to IP transit and transport providers. A carrier-neutral datacenter.

The Phoenix NAP facility also delivers through a range of unique design features, such as a 36-inch raised datacenter floor designed to keep servers cool and ensure complete redundancy. Managing Director, Mark Keller said “Phoenix NAP is a next-generation datacenter. They provide us with complete peace-of-mind, which we will be proudly passing on to our customers.”

Phoenix NAP is a PCI DSS validated services provider and has SAS 70 Type 1 certification, affording maximum protection for clients with a need for accredited security. The site is secured by 10-16 points of security between the front door and servers or networking equipment. Phoenix NAP is constantly monitored by guards in a bullet-proof monitoring room and Cisco-certified technical support are on-duty 24/7, 365 days a year.

localnode completed the migration to Phoenix in early December, achieving almost 100% uptime during the transfer. Clients are expected to experience improvements in performance and reliability at the new location.

You can see a run-down of the new facility and it’s features over here (network sub-menu).
In order to keep up with the latest and greatest technology, we have also upgraded our server. While also keeping the same pricing, and great hardware.

The new server has had some minor brand changes.

  • We now use an LSI RAID controller, with BBU. We used to use Adaptec (with BBU).
  • We also now use Lantronix KVM/IP. We used to use integrated Supermicro.

Also, on the old server, we used a newer Xeon Quad Core model. We have now upgraded this to a Dual Quad Xeon model.

  • We also had 8GB DDR3 1333 ECC RAM. We have upgraded this to 12GB DDR3 1333 ECC RAM.

From the localnode team, we’d like to wish everyone happy holidays, and seasons greetings.

Minor edit: 30th Dec 2010. I forgot to add ECC to the RAM. Read about ECC RAM here.
