WordPress is really awesome in many ways, and one of them is the plethora of plugins available.
Jetpack by WordPress.com is one of those plugins. It adds powerful features - previously only available to WordPress.com users. Customisation, traffic, mobile, content and performance tools. Included in its many features is Publicize - allowing Jetpack to automatically Tweet to Twitter and post to Facebook whenever you've made a blog post.
WP Super Cache by Automattic another great plugin. It generates static html files from your WordPress website. After a html file is generated, your webserver will serve that file instead of the heavier and more expensive WordPress PHP scripts. It basically makes browsing your website quicker.
You can customise the way it does this. For example - compression can be disabled for:
- Known users
Yoast SEO by Joost de Valk is a great plugin. WordPress out of the box is decent enough for SEO. But that doesn't mean you can improve it further. Yoast SEO allows you to go that extra mile to take care of all the technical optimisation - forcing you to choose a keyword for when you're writing articles, and allowing you to also set meta descriptions, SEO titles and many other features.
Finally there is iThemes Security which gives you over 30 ways to secure and protect your WordPress site. Combined with some common security measures, this plugin will help secure your WordPress website. It also has a backup feature - however at Localnode we do daily, weekly and monthly backups in 2 different locations.
If you're interested in using WordPress for your website - you can install it in as little as 1 click in your cPanel using Softaculous.
